Really made like God?

Understanding your design — Spirit • Body • Soul

You’ve probably heard it your whole life:

But… are you sure you know what that means?

Because for a lot of people, “image” gets reduced to flesh.

Gender. Skin tone. Power. Personality.

We think, “God must be like me.”

But what if we’ve had it backwards?

Let’s Start Here: What Is God? (Not WHO)

God is not a man.

God is not flesh.

God is Spirit.

So, if God is Spirit…

and we are made IN His image…

……what part of US could possibly match Him?

The Moment You Became You

“Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being.”

— Genesis 2:7 (AMP)

God formed a body out of dust.

It had shape.

It had Form

It had Potential

But it wasn’t alive. Not until God breathed Himself into that body’s nose...

That breath?

That

Is

Spirit!

That’s the real you.

You’re not alive because of your lungs.

You’re alive because of what God placed inside of you.

So Let’s Get This Straight:

  • ✅ You are a spirit
  • ✅ That lives in a body
  • ✅ That possesses a soul (your emotions, will, and mind)

You are not your body. That’s just where you live. Housing.

You aren’t your soul. That’s just where you make decisions.

You are spirit. That’s the part that came from God.

That’s the part that looks like Him.

Why So Many Get This Wrong

Humans want to make God look like us.

Our ego NEEDS a God we can understandexplain, or even control.

We shrink God into something flesh-based so we don’t feel so small.

But here’s the problem:

The moment you reduce God to flesh,
you reduce yourself to flesh, too.

And that’s how people lose identity.

So What Does It Really Mean to Be Made in God’s Image?

It means your spirit carries something divine.

It means you were designed to:

• Create

• Reflect love

• Respond to truth

• Operate from eternity

That’s not about being “god-like.”

It’s about being spirit-born.

And that changes everything.

🌱 Pause & Unfold

• Have you been identifying more with your body than your spirit?

• What part of you do you usually lead with? Flesh, Soul, or Spirit?

• What shifts with you when you remember the part of you made in God’s image can’t be seen with human eyes?

🙏🏽 A Simple Prayer:

God, I’ve been living like my body was the most important part of me. But now I see—You made me spirit first. Help me live from that place. Remind me I was made in Your image, not just for this world, but for eternity. In Jesus’ name, amen.

With grace and unfolding light,

Sharmain 🧡

🔗 Let’s Continue the Journey:

You now know you’re spirit first.

But your body still plays a role.

And so does your soul.

Let’s keep going.
